It sux when your husband, who has injured himself at work and is having a hard time moving about with any flexibility walks you out to your car to say goodbye before you head out alone to a formal event all dressed up in a beautiful gown. It sux even more when, as you grab the car door handle, you not only realize that you don't have your car keys, but you have also locked the two of you out of the house. Then, together you stand in front of a 16" X 20" inch window with a 7 foot drop to the floor and try to decide who should make the trip in for the keys. Moving into a rental house that is sticky-icky with other people's dirt and grime. I have just moved into a lovely old place but had to scrub years of "gunk" from 1) around the hob and its knobs 2) inside the oven 3) around the hinges of the toilet seats (yuk) 4) every kitchen shelf 5) around the taps, plug holes and between the links on the chains that holds the plugs 6) thick "gooey", greasy stuff on the sink mixer and around its nozzle, not to mention years of build up around the sink and its splash-back ..and so I could go on and on. I am not even a fanatic about cleanliness, but I never seem to rent a place that is left the way I leave a house when I move out! I've moved 16 times in 12 years. Shirley Hermanus, S.
