Debt Collectors Take The Cake

by Bill
(Milton)

What. You want my list? I'll tell you about the experience I had today. It all started at the mailbox.... I grabbed the keys to the Toy(ota) and headed out to get something to munch on. On the way out, I stopped at the mailbox and grabbed the mail. It didn't look especially important so I just tossed it in the car seat and headed off to Taco Time. (Gooood veggie soft tacos)

Back at the house, I grabbed the taco by the bag and just about forgot the mail. (I wish now that I did). After the taco...

I opened up the mail. Two letters from a hospital I visited a couple of months ago (and still owe some money to). Well, the first one stated that I owed $745 dollars, and if I'd like, I could arrange a payment plan and pay if off over one year's time. So far so good.

The second letter, sent out from the hospital the SAME day from the SAME person, said this...

"We have previously advised you of Hutchinson Hospital's payment policy. The policy guidelines have not been met. As a result, your account is considered delinquent and payment in full should be made within 10 days to avoid referring the account for final collection action."

(and here's the kicker) the letter continues...

"Thank you for choosing Hutchinson Hospital Corporation as your Health Care provider.

Sincerely,
Paula"

Doesn't that just take the cake? Good ol' Paula stabs me in the heart, threatening collection action, then she tops it off with a good natured Thank You for your patronage comment.

Now first of all, why in the world would she send me two letters the same day? One offering a 12 month payment plan and another demanding a 10 day "payitoffnoworelse" plan. I don't get it.

And second, what's up with that "thank you" business after threatening me. That's just WRONG!

The worst part of the deal is that Monday morning, I have to call her and try to get things straightened out. And I'm gonna have to be nice to her or she just might turn on me like a hungry hyena. (I hear they're vicious)

Anyway, that was my experience today. That's Wutsux! to me today. Maybe I'll have more on Monday...
